Celery

    Description

 

The celery (Apium graveolens) is an edible aromatic plant, which belongs to the apiaceae family. All its vegetative parts can be eaten: root, stem and leaves. The celery root is used to prepare soups and broths; its stem is used in salads and in Bloody Mary cocktail and its leaves are used as a condiment similar to parsley.

In the Jewish Passover, Pessach, the celery root is put on the plate of the Passover seder and eaten with salted water like Carpas, the fruit of the land.
